I met him my freshmen year of college. I use to see him around campus a few times and I always thought that he was really cute. However I thought that he would never go with me because I was not really confident in my self nor my body type. I figured if i lost around 30 pounds then MAYBE i would approach him. lol. Even though my body was not where I wanted it to be in my mind….my personality was spot on. Most people think of me as a bubbly person. I like to laugh a lot and i am told that i am a very kind and outgoing person. Okay enough about me…….lol
Story: I was walking to my dorm with my friend Glory and her boyfriend Chip after dinner from the Cafeteria. They were talking about carpooling home to Fayetteville. My curiosity always gets the best of me…..so I asked them who was carpooling with them.
(I have to tell this story as if he is talking to me….so that it will make sense….lol)
Me: Who’s going with you guys to fayetteville??
Chip: Me, Glory, Chase who’s driving and Yoo (pronounced “You”)
Me: I’m not going.
Chip: No YOO
Me: I’m not going with you guys to fayetteville!!….
Chip: No….Be Yoo
Me: I AM BEING MYSELF!!!
Chip: No….the guy’s name is BE YOO!!
I thought that Chip was talking about me the entire time, but he was talking about somebody else…..Everybody always called each other by their last name because they were in ROTC and I guess it was what everybody did. Chip and Yoo were both in this program.
It was two hours later that night I finally got to meet the mysterious “Be Yoo”. I was helping my friend Glory put her stuff in the trunk of the car and there he was. It turned out that this guy was the same I had a crush on…lol. He was sitting in the front passenger seat staring out the window at me. So with me and “unusual persoanlity”…..I went and introduced myself….eeerrr said hello.
Me: Hello Be Yoo
Be: Hello…..How do you know my name??
Me: I’m pyschic..
After that event I invited him to have midnight breakfast with me. Midnight breakfast was a big event on campus that came only when finals were around the corner. It’s an event where EVERYBODY shows up to eat and greet. He told me that he normally didn’t come to those events. So of course I got discouraged.
The night of Midnight Breakfast I was stand in line with my friends, laughing and making a ruckus just like everybody else…..I turned around to see how long the line was becoming and…..there he was with his friends…….I wanted to make him look my way and think that i was “really” popular, so I turned around and started laughing really loud to draw his attention. My plan worked!! I saw him eyeballing me and in my mind I was like “okay”.
Later on inside the cafeteria I invited him to sit with me and our combined group of friends. He unusually quiet while I was being quite the opposite of that. He seemed a little sad to me, so i invited him to be my friend. Using a line like….”If you hang with me….you will be laughing more”. LOL ( realized later that it was so CHEESY) haha.
After that night I would find excuses to go and hangout with him at his dorm. We started to become really good friends. I guess it got to the point of where I was rubbing off on him because he was smiling and laughing more. I would even bring him to church with me on Sundays. (My ideal man was somebody that first Loved God….if you can find a guy that loves God with all his heart…just imagine how he would love his woman……just as God (the bridegroom) did the to the awaiting Bride (the church…ultimately us).
It surprises me that I never wanted to date anyone else….I guess listening to my parents paid off for me….They told me during the years that I was not allowed to have any boyfriends but to focus on school. When I look back, they were right. Guys back in highschool and middle school were not matured enough nor did they have the right “mindset” when it came to the female body All they wanted was sex.
However…..Be was different. It was like he wanted to make a difference….He wasn’t overly concerned with my body…..he wanted my mind….he wanted to know me and how I thought about things. He wasn’t a boob guy or a foot guy or a butt guy….he was a mind guy and he loved me just the way I was.
It’s funny because my mom told me that I would meet my husband in college and I didn’t want to believe her but she was right. He was my first boyfriend turned husband and I don’t regret anything that happened between us Even though we are from opposite sides of the world….God saw it right to bring us together. Throughout the time that we were together we found out that if you put God in the center of your relationship….no matter what happens, He will bring balance and everything will be okay….. this is just something that worked for us
